[Music] greetings chromatic Warriors He's back it's that gorger in the jungle I always have multiple projects going at one time but I enjoy having a detailed project riding alongside whatever else I may be doing I've been working on this gorger and my intention is to enter it in a certain competition known for its demonic titles at any rate contained within this video file are all the techniques to create a smooth albino skin tone along with all the surrounding decorations ogre clothes let's take a look okay starting off with a color blocked base coat I just wanted to get some things established and kind of you know test the waters make sure I like what I'm seeing with this overall composition um these base coats in question have Dusty skull for the Rope gray castle for the skin a mixture of prairie ochre and black for all of the bones I have a little bit of black white and night sky mixed together this is going to be a non-metallic metal and a little bit of night sky and matte black for the wrappings oh some Dragon red and black for the inside of the mouth and a little bit of white and gray for the hair let's go to start coloring the gorger in and maintain this pale albino skin I'm first going to mix together night sky and gray Castle in varying amounts I'll be wet blending those you can see how nicely they turn up over that that base coat that's why it's nice to color block things in going very soft at this point and very broad for example if you look at the top of the hand there's a lot of textures to pull out but not yet you know we want to save that for some of our highlights for now I'm looking at everything in a much more broad sense and imagining this is kind of a smooth rendering and maybe a 3D sculpting program if that helps kind of bringing this first level of life into the model and just maintaining that lightness want the albino skin to be very pale and it's going to appear more so that way by everything around it being very dark the skin is looking mighty fine I have a soft pass combining the uh night sky castle gray together and now because I really want to worship the midtones on this one I know I've been saying that a lot lately I'm going in with pure gray Castle smoothing things out and at this point you can see I'm paying a lot more attention to those shuttle uh shuttle those subtle shifts in the landscape there's a lot of softer indications of musculature you've got this you know kind of striad chest muscle poking out it's a lot of softness that I want to pull upon but I don't want to add any new colors just yet I'm just working on smoothing things out and before where I was encouraging you to take a more vague look at the model now I'm pulling the scope of focus in a little bit closer kind of enhancing some of these uh indications of areas I know that'll just be a little larger and brighter yeah we can see on the uh the back skin right here is a good example there's a lot of folds this model's skin is kind of baggy because it's emaciated the knees and elbows yeah a lot of that those kind of subtle wrinkled textures to pull out so do not rush thyself work in very small controllable amounts of paint like you see here just Feathering things together pulling it to a transparent consistency and even with just that one little brush load taking those Trace Amounts just playing with the uh the transparency in these slightly deeper areas sagging ogre ABS now you can see all the uh the small subtleties those night sky and gray Castle combinations coming together nicely I'm just bumping the gray Castle up a little bit with the addition of more brain matter beige got a much finer brush pulled out and my light mapping is pretty well set I'm just trying to work inside of the portions that I've already established it's going nice and gradual with diluted amounts yeah there's a lot of subtle shifts if we just look at the back for a moment you can see that kind of General volume control it's not heavily shaded the darker areas around it look very nice as a result and I'm pulling some of those brain matter beige mixtures into a play you know it's going to take a long time this is for the golden demon so I'm being very meticulous with my dilution and layers I hope you can see some of that working so just continuing along making this baggy ogre look extra ripped gorgeous elino skin so I am still tinkering with the skin it's a major part of this model but now I have some raging rows mixed with gray castle and you can see me tending to the midtone in certain areas so first of all I was I was working on this and you know speaking I'm speaking a lot about value control lately and I see the center of the chest is a good example that's protruding forward so I think this pinkish midtone looks a lot more at home in those those more exposed areas I've got my blue Shadows a warm Shadow it's very nice now also there are a lot of subtleties when it it comes to transparent skin um you can see all this pinkness I'm trying to work in I'm going at it very slowly you know again um just just going kind of slow and purposefully I can always add more but reducing an overdone radius of pinkness that might be a little harder to wrestle with and I also don't want the model to be overpopulated with pink you know you we still want it to read as the origin color so there's a lot of you know variations and midtones going on but as long as this big ugly monster still reads as the albino Warhammer ape that I'm after then good so when I'm working on something that is a little unknown every project comes to this point where I'm trying something a little experimental just want to point that out and um just share some of the the patients that I'm laying it in the model and as you can see you know just very very slight amounts of paint just a hint of a tint it's um acrylics play a lot upon transparencies so if I go and just layer this over a progression that's already in place some of that is going to show through so it's very easy to manipulate and add these accent tones after something is almost there I'm I'm still bringing the highlights into play from that previous step the gray castle and brain matter beige but I'm seeing a little the necessity to work some of this raging rose pink tone in here before I you know just go all the way to the top with my uh blue gray and beige progression now that I've worked in that accent tone I can start building towards my final highlight question mark see I'm using just very very diluted amounts very small diluted amounts of brain matter beige and and just picking out all of these sharper folds um yeah just like before really paying attention to sink the pigment in because it's such a a play of mid and light colors I really want to make sure that saturation is on my side um but just to give you a little tour of the model you can see the effect that's it's having I like these soft striations coming together on the chest and those are being built up just like so with just the faintest amount of dirty paint water especially with these these lighter colors the case of your your white range um brain matter beige but I'm I'm speaking generally when you you get towards the lighter whiter pigment uh families things tend to be a little bit more gritty so you want to go much more diluted side side just be sure to lay down controllable amounts so just kind of pushing a glazik consistency around on the model it will gradually come together so all those pigments like grains of sand fall into place and fill out where it's missing my my my much has happened as you can see let's take a look around I've been working working up all the smaller details the ropes the bones the wrappings um very happy with the skin I still continue to lay uh thin coats of brain matter beige onto it but it's time to bring everything else along as well so get the general picture here I wouldn't say anything is uh quite complete the rags um but I left this area undone so I can show you how all of these things are being worked up working from the lowest level up let's bring the loin cloth along and to begin it was base coated with matte black and night sky just a faint amount of night sky I'm gradually bringing more of that cold blue into the equation see I'm just kind of picking out the larger volumes at this point trying to get my shadow and the basis for my kind of midtone progression I want this to read overall I want it to come across a little bit darker that's just um good composition it's good comparison to the light skin being surrounded by these dark items all right mids established now I'm just going to start going for direct sharper highlights with night sky um like I was saying I want the overall value to come across as a dark one so I'll start highlighting right away and leave those larger Shadow and midtone portions showing just very gradual lifts in these already established areas you can see I'm keying in trying to add a little bit of EXT ex ra depth to this miniature surface kicking things up a notch I've added Dusty skull into the night sky and the theory behind the highlights of all these items is to use uh dirty Dusty you know Ivory tones I want everything to look worn little bit weathered out generally stained and dirty as a uh jungle trundling ogre would be so yeah having all these kind of graduate to a more desaturated and worn out looking tone very nice see I'm just picking out a lot of the uh finer edges right now trying to gradiate any little Sway in the breeze as things kick out I want to drop a highlight in that small [Music] corner there are some areas that are more exposed so I'll be blending along those basically where the Rope is running beneath the loin cloth and just a faint amount some of these brighter patches just here and there and be sure to be laying this down in many thin layers you can see there we go just wanted a gentle kick some of these broader areas lastly for the Ragged robe well part of a robe maybe his clothes are made out of other clothes anyways just a very fine highlight of pure Dusty skull being applied you see the effect it's had on these uh small corners and lips just very very small portions but you want to make sure that even your Edge highlights are gradia see how this twists and varies in brightness it's conforming to the uh surface very nice about those ropes I'll be taking thinned down Prairie ochre and just using the the textures to my advantage this first layer is going to be pretty broad but watering it down so much it's going to sink into the ropey textures and leave a little bit of that base coat of Dusty skull showing through very nice deeper down in the range of shade I've added a small amount of black to my Prairie ochre it's still diluted down so I can play upon this rope texture see what I'm after a reduction technique just covering a little bit less of what I did before it's going to look wispy at first but just like as you build your highlights just gradually layering pigment into the Shadows we'll get it done see it coming together having everything shaded it's time to bring it back up I've got Dusty skull on my brush and I'm picking out the segments of this rope one by one but I also want to make sure I'm acknowledging that zenithal light source you can see I'm picking out the upward-facing and angles just like so see the overall look coming together I'll have to repeat this a few times to get just the right amount of saturation and here and there I may have to back up to that Prairie ochre again maybe um glaze into these lighter crevices or highlight one of the more shadowed areas to finish off the ropes I'll come in with Dusty skull once again but I've raised the level with a small amount of brain matter beige need to get very small areas with my tiny brush tip holding my breath between brush Strokes maximum Focus I'll have to apply is highlights to the rest of the ropes as well maybe looking at the ropes around the shoulders and such and seeing a difference this is uh kind of brought everything to a certain point the other evening so I have my work cut out for me hi my name is horel Lord Welcome To The Bone zone so picking up on the skulls man ogre fashion let's talk about that um I would dress like this this is kind of how things are are going for me gradually trying to build my muscles and the amount of skulls that I hold um so I always have a good time painting bones and here I first laid down a base coat of black mixed with Prairie ochre now I've reduced the amount of black in that Prairie ochre mixture just bringing up and I'm just bringing up the values like so seeing as Bel leing want to make sure there's more of a shadow on this side as the skulls are swinging swinging on and swaying what continuing to raise the values on these skull parts now coming in with Pure Prairie ochre and my map is pretty well set give you a front shot of that I'll start to pick out some of these finer textures these um cracks and I'll be lining around those starting to build up the fragmented texture that I want around it there's a sculpted detail but leading up to that with a little bit of lighter freehanded detail is always a good move yeah you can see I've I've already brought some prair o into these other areas and it's just down to the gradual layering and sinking of pigment to get a nice saturated value want a very very strong presence of prair ochre that's kind of the foundation of the bone as you can see some of the other areas that are more more finished all right I'll continue to work the Prairie ochre moving right along I have a solid foundation of Prairie ochre in place now I've added you guessed it brain matter beige video favorite small amount of that to begin tightening up my highlights getting much finer with everything focusing on these kind of specular Reflections just another gradual lift but it's very important that that last stage a solid saturated application this color is uh much lighter and it needed a solid foundation to work on top of if you run across any of those shadowed areas you're going to have a conflict of interest things are going to get very weird now little bit of brain matter beige added in with that prair ochre going even brighter and this brings it up to the same level as the rest of the bones on the model I mean I think I even have to highlight the nails a little bit further in this direction we'll finish this skull off for the tutorial sake and then I'll move along on the other bone tones and finally very very small portions of brain matter beige lovely I love this part love love love but um this is the quick part you know less is more when it comes to these Final highlights and it's nice to see all of these gradiated graduations being capped off taking a little Victory lap as I finish off each item very cool my God the amount of time spent painting that model versus the amount of time you've seen recorded greatly different but uh I wanted to impress upon you how the uh the patience going into this and the many thin layers and you just getting the mentality down for just what it takes to create a model at a higher level I'm trying to push myself do my best and yeah I hope that I'm also Conjuring something atmospheric I want to create the impression of a kind of albino Warhammer great ape kind of uh surging out of the J jungle under a hail of arrows it's been provoked and it is always hungry just like me so I hope you enjoyed this video please let me know how you feel in the comment section down below the supporters of this patreon I'm happy to hear from you so till we meet again my friend remain Unchained
